Course Description: Participants in TCI@CTS will complete a rigorous, proven coaching program accredited by the International Coaching Federation and delivered via the coach training program, Loaves and Fishes

The Center for Lifelong Learning now offers three options for participants who wish to complete coach training. Those who enroll in the full course (Parts I and II) will complete 60 hours of coaching education, in a mix of synchronous (live) and asynchronous (individual study and practice) sessions that includes mentor coaching. This meets the updated Level 1 accreditation standards of the International Coaching Federation (ICF).

Participants may also register for Part I (50 hours) now, and take Part II later, or through another coach education provider.

If a participant has completed previous coaching education (an ACSTH Coach Education course or Level I partial completion) and meet the requirements, they may register for Part II only (10 hours, formerly offered as Mentor Coaching). Certificates of completion will be awarded by Loaves and Fishes for these separate components.

For participants enrolling in the Full Program or Part I only, the course begins with a virtual orientation meeting on Tuesday, January 3, 2024 from 7:00 – 9:00 PM ET. For the Full Program and Part I, a twelve-hour virtual retreat is held from Jan. 8–10. It is followed by nine two-hour classes and one two-hour observed coaching session. Each class session is scheduled from 1:00 – 3:00 PM ET on Thursdays (usually the first and third Thursdays of the month). A concluding ten-hour virtual retreat is June 24-26, 2024. See the detailed schedule, below.

Participants enrolling in Part II only will not begin until September 11, 2024 and will conclude in December 2024. See the detailed schedule, below.

All participants must secure a copy of the book, Coaching for Transformation: Pathways to Ignite Personal and Social Change by Lasley, Kellogg, Michael and Brown. It is the primary text and will be supplemented by additional materials provided as part of the course.

Location: All sessions are offered virtually. A course site and materials will be provided by Loaves and Fishes and the Center for Lifelong Learning. All supplemental materials, course schedules and other resources will be posted. Participants will have access to the site about one month before their program begins.

Mentor Coaching is offered to trained coaches seeking certification or recertification with the International Coach Federation (ICF). Mentor coaching takes place over a 3-month period of time. Coaches must be actively coaching at least two clients during their Mentor Coaching, as they will present four (4) 30-minute coaching sessions with at least two (2) different clients during Mentor Coaching sessions. Mentor Coaching for an ICF Credential consists of coaching and feedback in a collaborative, appreciative and dialogued process based on an observed and recorded coaching session to increase the coach’s capability and effectiveness as a coach, in alignment with the ICF Core Competencies. Through observed and recorded coaching sessions with clients, students receive individual feedback from trained mentor coaches on their use of the core competencies of coaching as they are working toward certification.  It is during mentor coaching with a seasoned credentialed coach, that many new coaches say theygrew the most.

Cohorts of up to 10 coaches experience: Ten hours of mentor coaching over 90 days. Six of the ten hours are group learning. Four hours of the ten hours are one-on-one sessions with a mentor coach. Individual sessions are coordinated at the beginning of the Mentor Coaching/Module 5 course.

Mentor Coaching cycles of three months begin each fall. Mentor Coaching 2024 begins on September 11 and ends on December 11.  Group sessions are held from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM ET on September 11 and 18 and again on December 11. Individual coaching sessions take place in October and November.
