Course Description: This six-week, online course explores preaching as an act of poetic and prophetic imagination. Participants will consider the poet’s art and craft as a resource, a hermeneutic, and a set of Christian practices for preaching in a postmodern world. During the course, participants will:

  • Explore the overlap and commonalities between preaching and poetry, and preachers and poets;
  • Deepen your appreciation for poetry and poetic imagination from a variety of cultural contexts, and how these speak into our own contexts and identities as preachers; and
  • Sharpen your skills for creative writing and preaching
While this is a primarily asynchronous course, there will be scheduled opportunities for group interaction as part of the course design.
