If you want a life of prayer, the way to get it is by praying. . . You start where you are, and you deepen what you already have. ~ Thomas Merton

Course Description: In this course, we will explore and practice different forms of prayer including the prayer of examen, lectio divina, and contemplative prayer. Each week we will join in communal prayer and individual prayer practices as well as engage one another in dialogue regarding the weekly readings and our prayer experiences.

Participants will need to set aside time each week for a brief reading assignment, daily prayer and reflection (20-30 minutes), and participation in the weekly online discussion and video sessions.

Goals:
  • Explore practices through daily/weekly practice of prayer forms such as lectio divina, contemplative prayer, and the prayer of examen.
  • Develop a 'habit' of prayer through regular practice.
This course is open to all who are interested. Full participation is encouraged. For those seeking credit toward the Certificate in Spiritual Formation, full participation is required along with an integration paper due 6-8 weeks following the end of the course.
