Mentor Coaching ONLINE

October 4, 2023 – January 3, 2024

Course Description: Mentor Coaching is part of the coach education courses offered by TCI@CTS—The Coaching Institute at Columbia Theological Seminary. It is offered to trained coaches seeking certification or recertification with the International Coach Federation (ICF). Mentor coaching takes place over a 3-month period. Participants must be actively coaching at least two clients during their Mentor Coaching, as they will present four (4) 30-minute coaching sessions with at least two (2) different clients during Mentor Coaching sessions.

Mentor Coaching for an ICF Credential consists of coaching and feedback in a collaborative, appreciative and dialogued process based on observed and recorded coaching sessions to increase coaching skills, in alignment with the ICF Core Competencies.

Through observed and recorded coaching sessions with clients, participants receive individual feedback from trained mentor coaches on their use of the core competencies of coaching as they work toward certification.

The assessments are designed to increase a coach's capabilities and effectiveness in coaching. It is during mentor coaching with a seasoned credentialed coach that many new coaches say they grew the most.

Cohorts of up to 10 coaches receive the following:

  • Ten (10) hours of mentor coaching over 90 days

  • Six (6) of the ten hours are group learning

  • Four (4) hours of the ten hours are one-on-one sessions with a mentor coach

Coaches who complete the mentor coaching program will receive a certificate of completion to add to their coaching application and can list the mentor coach as a reference to confirm their participation with ICF.
