Course Description: This colloquy for Young Black Church Clergy offers a time for fellowship, study, and reflection on the experience of ministry in the Black Church.

The goals of this colloquy are:

1) To provide a forum for young Black Church pastors to explore the issues particular to congregational leaders in African American congregations and each pastor’s own vocational trajectory;
2) To help young Black Church pastors re-define and re-envision their calling and vocations;
3) To help Black Church pastors identify and name the challenges of ministry as African American clergy;
4) to provide young Black Church pastors with a safe and stimulating peer group experience for renewal and challenge.

Location: Center for Lifelong Learning, Columbia Theological Seminary, Decatur, Georgia
 
With: Lynn Brinkley and James Ellis III. The Rev. Dr. Lynn Brinkley is associate director of Baptist Women in Ministry. The Rev. Dr. James Ellis III serves as University Chaplain at Trinity Western University in Canada. He is editor of Tell the Truth, Shame the Devil: Stories about the Challenges of Young Pastors (Smyth & Helwys).

Schedule: The program begins on Monday, February 7, 2022 at 2:00 PM and concludes Wednesday, February 9 at noon.

Program Fee: $350. Includes meals starting with dinner on Monday and ending with breakfast on Wednesday.

Housing: Housing is available at the Center for Lifelong Learning at the following rates for Monday and Tuesday nights (taxes included); Queen suite for $194.40, Single occupancy room for $172.80 and double occupancy room for $111.24. Additional nights offered based on availability.
